ICYMI: Ferguson Snubs Washington State Debate Coalition

August 23, 2024

BELLEVUE, WA – In case you missed it, for nearly a decade the Washington State Debate Coalition (WSDC), founded by the Seattle CityClub, has been partnering with broadcast, digital and print media platforms to host debates for many statewide offices including Governor.

The WSDC had scheduled a debate for Governor between Dave Reichert and Bob Ferguson to take place at Central Washington University on October 11.

Sadly, it has been canceled because Ferguson refused to participate last night.

Shortly after Ferguson told the WSDC to pound sand, Reichert reacted on X.

Clearly Ferguson wants to limit how often he must defend his failed record. He doesn’t want to explain why 1 in 7 of sexually violent predators he’s released back on the street have gone on to commit heinous crimes, with half involving sexual violence.

Ferguson doesn’t want to talk about why he pushed to decriminalize lethal drugs such as fentanyl while we’re in the middle of an overdose crisis that is ravaging Washington communities.

Ferguson doesn’t want to explain why he supports the status quo which has led the state of Washington’s cost of living being 17 percent higher than the national average.

Ferguson can’t defend his misleading attacks on Reichert’s record.

Reichert is ready to debate. He knows Washington is ready for change and Bob won’t change a thing. Ferguson needs to buck up and defend his unpopular agenda.
