ICYMI: Cook Political Report moves Washington’s Gov race toward Republicans
June 13, 2024
In case you missed it, Cook Political Report moved Washington state’s gubernatorial race toward Republicans, making it the third national media outlet in recent weeks to recognize how competitive the race has become.
“Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee announced last year he wouldn’t seek an unprecedented fourth term, and in a presidential cycle in a state President Joe Biden carried by 19 points, this shouldn’t be a headache for Democrats,” Cook’s Jessica Taylor writes. “But that changed when Republicans landed a top-tier challenger in former Rep. Dave Reichert.”
Observers across the country continue to recognize that Washington voters are clamoring for change. Washington families are struggling to make ends meet as the cost of living continues to skyrocket, they feel less safe in their neighborhoods, and they are frustrated by the never-ending traffic and gridlock on our roads.
Bob Ferguson would bring more of the same failed policies at a time when voters are sick of the status quo and are ready for the change that Dave Reichert would bring to state government.
Bottom Line: Washington’s race for governor is the closest it has been in years and is catching the attention of national media. While voters demand change, Bob Ferguson is promising the same failed policies that have made this race competitive. Dave Reichert is promising a new direction.
