Dave Reichert Statement on Suspension of Intake at Two Juvenile Rehab Facilities

BELLEVUE, WA – Washington gubernatorial candidate Dave Reichert released the following statement today on the announcement that the state has suspended intakes at two juvenile rehab facilities:

 

“It is irresponsible and unthinkable that the state is not placing juveniles convicted for crimes, including violent crimes, into facilities to serve their sentences. This decision puts our public safety at risk and is deeply unfair to the victims of these offenders but shouldn’t surprise anyone. This state, for too long, has sided with people committing crimes over law and order. Officials need to prioritize victims and the safety of our communities for once and immediately figure out a solution to unfreeze intakes at our juvenile rehab facilities.”
